How To Get Drafted To The CNPL

Feb 19, 2023

Word about the launch of the Canadian National Pickleball League (CNPL) is quickly spreading – the first of its kind in Canada, the league will feature the top 32 pickleball players in Canada, divided into eight teams, offering a player payout of $100,000 – the highest ever in Canadian pickleball history. If you’re a top pickleball player in Canada, you might be wondering how to get involved with the CNPL. Look no further than the draft process.

Prospective players must first submit an application on cnpl.ca (under JOIN THE EXCITEMENT -> WANT TO PLAY?). Once the application is received, the CNPL selection committee will review it and determine which players will be invited to buy into ($200 + tax) and participate in the draft qualifier/play-in events.

Invited/committed players will have their one-of-one digital official CNPL player card created and be announced on the website and socials; all players will have to compete in a draft qualifier event (the results of which will be presented to team owners for evaluation/to assist in selection process) in order to be eligible to be drafted to one of the eight teams.

The CNPL draft process is a rigorous and competitive one, but it is also an incredible opportunity for top pickleball players in Canada to showcase their skills on a national stage. If you’re interested in applying, head to cnpl.ca to submit your application and take the first step towards joining the elite ranks of Canadian pickleball. Good luck!
