2025 CNPL Amateur Showdown Series – Updated

The Canadian National Pickleball League is excited to announce the addition of expanded amateur play to this year’s CNPL pre-season and regular season events. This is your chance to participate with and against friends, family, and colleagues in a team based event under the CNPL rules.

These one-day showdowns will give participants and fans alike the opportunity to be part of Canadian Pickleball history, playing in the first amateur CNPL events. The competition will be intense, the venues spectacular, and the community second-to-none! 

Players of all skill levels are encouraged to participate in a one-day event that guarantees at least 4 matches per team (8 games per player), prizes from CNPL sponsors like Tyrol, Onix, and Selkirk, and the bonus opportunity to qualify for the CNPL.

UPDATE: Teams will now earn MiLP Canada points for participation in the Showdowns. As a result the groups will be built with team DUPR ratings in mind.

  • Group Stage –
    • 5 teams of equivalent team DUPR rating will play a round robin
    • Each team will play a total of 4 matches or 8 games per player
    • Matches will be limited to 80 minutes each
  • Bracket Stage –
    • 4 teams with the highest ranking will be seeded
    • The top ranked team with face the 4th ranked team and the 2nd ranked team will face the 3rd ranked team
    • Prizes will be awarded to the winners of each bracket

Team eligibility requirements:

  • Teams of 4 (2 male, 2 female)
  • Skill (3.0+ or with tournament success at the 2.5 level)
  • Adherence to Code of Conduct (sportsmanship, fair play, respect for opponents, officials, and fans)
  • Equipment standards (complying to standards from USA Pickleball Equipment Standards Manual)
  • Respect for facilities (locker rooms, practice areas and common spaces)

  • CNPL format where players compete with friends, family, and colleagues in a true team tournament.
  • Fun, prizes, and the chance to possibly join the professional ranks.
  • Network with pickleball players and members of the CNPL family from your region.
  • Be part of growing the game of pickleball in Canada.

Sani Sport Showdown – March 8th – Sani Sport Boucherville, Boucherville QC
Royal Westcourt Showdown – March 15th – Royal Westcourt Social Club, Montreal QC

In our first ever event in the province of Quebec we invite amateur teams and players from Quebec, Ottawa region, Atlantic Canada, and the American North-East to be the first to participate in a CNPL Amateur Showdown. Royal Westcourt Social Club will host the one-day event on March 8th. Grab some partners and join us at Royal Westcourts brand new pickleball courts to kick off the pickleball season in style!

On Saturday, March 8, events will run from 9 am to 7 pm EST.

Smash Pickleball Showdown – March 22 – Smash Pickleball London, London, ON

The CNPL is excited to announce the Smash Pickleball Showdown. To be hosted at the flagship location of the new Smash Pickleball facility brand on March 22nd. Players who are from of Southwestern Ontario, Niagara Region, Western New York, and the American Mid-West will converge on the pickleball capital of South-Western Ontario. There is only room for 20 teams at this event so sign-ups will go fast!

On Saturday, March 22nd, events will run from 9am to 7pm EST.

Okanagan Showdown – March 29 – OWA Pickleball Complex, Vernon, BC

For the third straight pre-season we return to the top-notch Marshall Fields venue on March 29th in picturesque Vernon, British Columbia. This is the only pre-season amateur event for the Western region and is for players who are residents of Yukon, NWT, Nunavut, British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and the American Pacific North-West. with spots for 30 teams everyone with significant pickleball experience is encouraged to participate.

On Saturday, March 29th, events will run from 9am to 7pm PST.

  1. I think you would get more teams signed up if you sent a PDF of the events to clubs in the regions. You are not on pickleballtournaments.com (formerly pickleball brackets), and I think many players do not know about this. Tournaments in Western Canada seem to fill up within a few hours to days. You have had this listed for weeks now.

      1. CNPL staff, it is not about signing up, it is about letting clubs know so people even know the event is happening. Many players do not follow your feed on Facebook or instagram. It would be good if you had a notice you could email to clubs and have them help you promote these events.

  2. I recently purchased a ticket for the qualifying event in London, but after checking the participant list, I don’t see my name mentioned anywhere. I’m a bit confused and would like some clarification. Could you please explain what exactly this ticket includes? Does it guarantee a spot to play in the qualifiers, or is it just for spectator access? I want to make sure I understand what I’ve paid for and whether I’m officially registered to compete.
