After two consecutive events finishing in 4th overall, the Prairie Pronghorns have decided to shake things up by dropping Jeff Elwood and adding Sunny Buttar. Elwood, who was selected 19th overall in 2023 and then 15th overall this year in the 2024 draft, saw his play time slide with the emergence of Michael McCaffrey this season. In 17 matches last season Jeff went 20-14 with an average win margin of 0.9 points while this season in 11 matches Jeff is 8-14 with an average loss margin of 1.5 points.
The move should inject some life into the Pronghorns line-up that still includes one of the leagues top mixed pairs in Kim Brent and Brad Chapman.
This is the second consecutive season where Sunny has been added after the draft to a roster needing an injection of skill. In 2023 he played in seven matches for the Vancouver (then Rocky Mountain) Rush with a 9-7 record and another two matches for the Montreal Lions in the playoffs, going 0-4. Sunny was the highest ranked player undrafted this season after going 11-6 in the Vernon qualifier including dominating 6-1 in mixed doubles.
