In a groundbreaking development for professional pickleball, the Canadian National Pickleball League (CNPL) has teamed up with six other national organizations to help launch the very first Global Pro Pickleball Tour, led by the Association of Pickleball Players (APP). This alliance is set to revolutionize the sport by creating a truly international competitive circuit.
A Groundbreaking Alliance with Global Reach
Beyond Canada’s own league, the alliance includes:
- Association of Pickleball Players (APP)
- European Pickleball Federation (EPF)
- India’s Global Sports
- Australia’s National Pickleball League (NPL)
- Pickleball England
- Vietnam’s Pickleball D-Joy
Together, these partners aim to unify rankings, streamline global tournament coordination, and offer professional players a clear and sustainable career path.
What’s on the 2025/26 Global Tour
The newly unveiled international calendar kicks off late in 2025 and rolls through 2026 with more than 30 events across key regions. Highlights include:
- Feb. 3-8, 2025: Indian Open
- Apr. 13-19, 2026: US Open
- Aug. 12-16, 2026: English Open
- and of course Sept. 3-6, 2026: Canadian Open
Each tournament will be tiered with escalating prize pools and will contribute to a single, unified global ranking, a first for the sport.
What This Means for Canadian Pickleball
The CNPL gains a global platform where Canadian pros will now compete on the world stage, alongside elite players from Australia, Europe, India, England, and Vietnam. By hosting the Canadian Open in September 2026 the Canadian pickleball scene will be enhanced on the world stage and Canada will be front and center in the global pickleball movement. Most importantly this means Canadian players will benefit from a larger calendar, broader exposure, and the opportunity to climb a global leaderboard.
This move is a game-changer for the sport globally and for Canadian pickleball’s reputation and reach.
A Win for Players and Fans Alike
For athletes, the unified structure means:
- More consistent global competition
- A clear ladder for professional advancement
- Predictability for planning travel, peak performance, and exposure
Fans and communities also win as tournaments across continents bring the sport to new audiences, foster dialogue among different pickleball cultures, and make international competition more accessible.
