First Trade of the C4 Offseason: Drive and Lights Swap Draft Picks

The C4 offseason just got more interesting. In the first trade of the draft season, the Detroit-Windsor Drive and Northern Lights have swapped picks ahead of the January 27 draft.

The Trade

Northern Lights receive:

  • Round 4, pick 2 (5)
  • Round 5, pick 2 (13)
  • Round 6, pick 2 (21)

Detroit-Windsor Drive receive:

  • Round 3, pick 6 (3)
  • Round 5, pick 6 (17)
  • Round 6, pick 6 (25)

What It Means

The Drive are moving up two spots into the third round to land at pick #3, while sliding back four spots in rounds five and six. For a team that added Stevie Petropouleas (#6 overall player in 2025) in free agency and needs to complete their roster with one female and two open players, this signals they have a specific target in mind for the third round.

The Lights, meanwhile, are adding flexibility by accumulating picks and moving back slightly. With needs across both categories (two female, two open), the additional draft capital gives them more opportunities to build around Joel Pelletier and Danielle Boss. The Lights must believe they can still get good value at the #5 pick.

With trading now open, this deal may be just the first move before draft day. The offseason just got more interesting.
